About Moonan Cottage
Moonan Cottage is a rural property on Moonan Brook Road in Moonan Brook, at the western edge of the Barrington Tops in the Upper Hunter. It is run as a wedding venue and holiday cottage, and groups book the whole place rather than sharing it. There is no TV and no mobile or phone signal on site, so guests genuinely switch off. The brook runs right past the cottage, with swimming holes upstream and bush tracks nearby. Ceremonies are held beneath a broad Camphor Laurel tree or down by the water, with bench seating for about 40. Receptions move into a styled 12 x 12 metre marquee set with tables, a buffet and a bar area for up to 50 guests, or into the open-air spaces around the cottage. Accommodation is part of the appeal. The three-bedroom cottage sleeps eight, the bunk house beside it takes another 17, and camping and caravan space can be arranged for anyone extra. Wedding packages run over three nights – arrive on Friday, marry on Saturday, recover on Sunday and head home on Monday. Couples can use their own vendors, or choose a package that brings in the celebrant, a sharing-feast dinner, cake, photographer, music, hair and make-up and flowers. Beyond weddings, the property takes family reunions, group getaways and team-building or boot-camp retreats, with plenty of room for gear. Smaller elopement packages for up to 20 guests start at $1,598 for five hours on the grounds, $1,994 with one night's stay and $3,046 with two nights. Extra guests or extra nights cost more, and custom packages can be put together.

How many guests can Moonan Cottage host?
The reception marquee is styled for up to 50 guests, and the wedding packages cover exclusive use for 50 people. Ceremony bench seating takes about 40, and more guests can be added at an extra cost.
Can our guests stay on site?
Yes. The cottage has three bedrooms sleeping eight and the adjoining bunk house sleeps 17 more, so around 25 people can stay. Camping and caravan space is available for extra guests on request.
Can we bring our own drinks and suppliers?
Alcohol is BYO on the wedding packages. The venue is flexible about vendors, so couples can bring their own caterer and other suppliers, or choose the full-service package where the venue arranges them.
What do the wedding packages include?
The styling package covers exclusive use, a styled ceremony spot, the fitted-out marquee with crockery, cutlery and glassware, pack-up the next day, a wedding co-ordinator and three nights' accommodation. The full-service package adds a celebrant, a sharing-feast buffet dinner with a Tuscan share-table upgrade, wedding cake, photographer, a duo or DJ, hair and make-up, bouquets and buttonholes.
Does Moonan Cottage host events other than weddings?
