About Leaves & Fishes
Leaves & Fishes sits on 20 acres at 737 Lovedale Road, Lovedale, in the Hunter Valley. The property is a mix of tropical gardens, rainforest, lotus ponds and a sandstone colonnade, with adults-only overwater boathouses and a villa for guests who want to stay. It runs weddings, private celebrations, corporate retreats and workshops, and sells homewares from its own store on site. Event spaces are hired one at a time, so you pay for the area your group needs. The Villa seats 12 for private dining and includes accommodation. The Commons is a casual indoor and outdoor house for about 40 seated, suited to long lunches, barbecues and baby showers. The Overwater Pavilion has a dining deck above the fish pond for around 56 to 60 seated or 90 standing, with room inside for a bar and dancing. The Assembly is the largest, taking 80 to 90 seated or 120 for a cocktail party, flowing from a tropical deck through a banquet hall onto the lawn. For weddings and larger celebrations the property can host up to 150, and exclusive use of the whole estate is arranged on request. Hire is by the half day for a lunch or dinner sitting or by the full day of eight hours, and tables and chairs for the seated number are included. The Pavilion and the Assembly each have a commercial kitchen. You can bring in your own caterer or use a preferred partner such as Little Castro Catering, whose packages cover canapés, shared banquets and alternate-drop dinners. Drinks can come as a beer and wine package or as BYO poured by the property's RSA-trained bar staff. Extras such as table styling, lawn games, musicians and festoon lighting can be added.

How many guests can Leaves & Fishes hold?
The Assembly takes 80 to 90 seated or 120 standing, the Overwater Pavilion around 56 to 60 seated or 90 standing, the Commons 40 seated and the Villa 12. Larger weddings and celebrations of up to 150 can be arranged across the property.
What does it cost to hire a space?
Half-day hire starts at $660 for the Commons, with a full day there at $1,200. The Overwater Pavilion is $990 for a half day or $1,600 for a full day, and the Assembly is $1,100 for a half day or $2,200 for a full day.
Can we use our own caterer?
Yes. You can organise your own catering or use one of the property's preferred caterers. Little Castro Catering's packages run from cocktail menus at $54 per person to a shared banquet at $79 per person and alternate-drop dinners up to $95 per person.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
Yes, BYO drinks are allowed as long as they are served by the property's RSA-qualified staff, which costs $880 for three hours, $1,100 for four hours or $1,390 for five. Beer and wine packages can also be arranged through the caterer.
Do we get the whole property to ourselves?
Standard hire covers only the space you book, not the whole estate. Exclusive use of the property can be organised by contacting the events team, and on-site accommodation for up to 12 guests can be added.
