About Amanda's on the Edge
Amanda's on the Edge is a family-owned restaurant at 1039 McDonalds Road, Pokolbin, set beside the Windsor's Edge vineyard a little away from the busiest stretch of the Hunter. The North family built the property in stages over two decades, and the restaurant still runs with a homely, unhurried feel: generous plates, local wines and staff who know the menu well. For functions, the restaurant can seat up to 75 guests, and groups can choose between two private dining rooms. The dining areas are light and open, with windows that look across the verandah to the vines, so a long lunch or a dinner for a milestone birthday, an anniversary or a work team has a real wine-country outlook. Smaller private gatherings can take one room, while larger parties can spread across the restaurant. The kitchen cooks modern Australian food built on seasonal Hunter produce. The set menu runs at $135 per person and includes a bottle of wine for every two guests, with a choice of entrees, mains and desserts such as twice-cooked duck, scotch fillet, curries and creme brulee; a vegetarian set menu is offered at the same price, and many dishes can be made gluten free. Amanda's is fully licensed and pours a range of Hunter wines, and staff will suggest pairings. The restaurant opens Wednesday to Sunday for dinner and Friday to Sunday for lunch, and children are welcome by prior arrangement only.
