About Leah Mitchell Floral Design
Leah Mitchell Floral Design is a wedding florist with a studio at Avondale, about ten minutes south of Wollongong. Leah started in a florist shop at 14, bought that shop at 18 and has been designing weddings for more than 20 years. Her style is romantic and abundant: generous bouquets, lush ceremony flowers and big reception features, with a different colour palette coming to life most weeks. The booking process is simple. Start by submitting your date and venue to check availability. If the date is free, you will be invited to a consultation, held in the studio, over Zoom or by phone, where you talk through your ideas and priorities. You then fill out a quote form with as much detail and as many pictures as you like, and receive an accurate, itemised quote. Once that is approved, design work begins. In the weeks before the wedding there is a final consultation to run through the florals and choose styling pieces. On the day the team delivers everything from bridal party flowers to ceremony and reception arrangements, sets it all up and then packs down afterwards so nothing is left behind. Past weddings include celebrations at The Sebel Kiama and Greyleigh. Alongside the flowers, the studio keeps a styling collection that can be added to any order: vases and glassware, candle holders, signage and stationery such as welcome signs and seating charts, arbours and structures, and decor pieces like wishing wells and easels. To protect the range, items are not offered for DIY hire.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum spend?
Yes. Full-service wedding florals have a minimum spend of $5,000, and most couples invest between $6,000 and $10,000 depending on scope. Weddings at The Grange that include a floral allowance are exempt.
Do you deliver and set up the flowers?
Yes. Everything is delivered to the locations you advise and set up on the day, and the team packs down afterwards so no mess is left.
Where are consultations held?
In the studio about ten minutes south of Wollongong, or via Zoom or over the phone if that is easier.
Can we hire vases, candles or an arbour?
Yes. The styling range includes vases, glassware, candle holders, signage, arbours, wishing wells and easels. Items are available as add-ons to a flower order rather than as DIY hire.
How far ahead should we enquire?
Popular dates are often taken up to 12 months ahead, so check your date as early as you can using the online form.
