About Albert Palais
Albert Palais is an event venue at 2 Catherine Street in Leichhardt, in a building that has hosted events since it opened in the 1930s. Behind the sandstone facade are marble floors, chandeliers and timber floors, and the whole place is an events-only space: it is booked by one client at a time rather than trading as a bar or restaurant. It sits around 10 minutes from the CBD, with free two-hour parking behind the building and street parking nearby. The venue covers more than 1,200 square metres. The main ballroom alone is 760 square metres, with a 437-square-metre ground floor below it that includes a marble foyer and bar. The ballroom has a stage, a 13-metre high-definition screen and a full AV and sound set-up, plus microphones and instruments supplied by the venue. Capacities depend on layout: roughly 200 to 300 for seated dining, 400 theatre-style for conferences and up to about 700 for concerts. A first-floor Privée room overlooking the ballroom serves as a VIP or green room, and an underground dance studio takes up to 75 for smaller gatherings. For weddings, galas, engagements and large birthdays, packages combine venue hire, two courses and a four-hour drinks package from $155 per person. Catering comes from partner caterers, including modern Australian and North Indian options, and drinks packages start at $15.50 per person for each hour. Corporate hire starts at $4,000 on a Monday, and Friday live-music nights work on a minimum bar spend from $10,000. All prices are quoted excluding GST.
