About The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre
The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre is the home venue of Hawke's Brewing at 8-12 Sydney Street, Marrickville. It is part working brewery, part 1980s pub and part country-town Chinese restaurant, with walnut wood panelling, the original carpets, vintage furniture, a pool room and Lucky Prawn, its Australian-Chinese bistro. Full venue hire gives exclusive use of the public bar, Lucky Prawn, the RJLH Pool Room, The Patio and the Sanctuary Cove mezzanine, for up to 250 standing or 100 seated, and it is offered Monday to Thursday and on Sunday nights. Smaller sections can be booked too. Sanctuary Cove, up a flight of stairs, is styled like a tropical resort lobby bar and looks across the venue and brewery, seating 20 or taking 30 standing; it has no private bar and isn't wheelchair accessible. Under Mezzanine, part of the bistro, seats up to 45 or takes 50 in a mix. Lucky Prawn can be taken exclusively for 24 to 36 seated, and the curbside tables suit up to 30 in fine weather. The venue can't take groups of 50 to 99 at present, and weekend bookings are capped at 20 guests. Every space runs on a minimum spend quoted to suit the booking, invoiced upfront to secure the date. Food comes from Lucky Prawn: canapé selections at $50 to $65 per head, banquets at $58, $68 and $88 per head, and fried or steamed platters from $55. Bucks and hens parties must be declared at enquiry, and brewery tours, custom fortune cookies and merch packs can be added to full hire.

Can you take a group of 60 or 80?
Not at the moment. The venue says it can't book groups of 50 to 99; functions are either up to around 40 or full venue hire.
Is there a minimum spend?
Yes, every space has a minimum spend in place of a hire fee. It is quoted per booking and the invoice must be paid to confirm the date.
What do the food packages cost?
Lucky Prawn canapé selections run from $50 to $65 per head, and banquets are $58, $68 or $88 per head. Platters of 16 pieces start at $55.
Are bucks and hens parties allowed?
