About Postino Osteria

Postino Osteria is an Italian neighbourhood restaurant at 2 Moonbie Street, Summer Hill, about five minutes on foot from Summer Hill station. Its menus were put together by chef Alessandro Pavoni and his team and lean on the generous, shared cooking of a small local trattoria. Groups of 10 or more are handled by a dedicated events coordinator from enquiry to the night itself. The building gives you several ways to book. A private dining room upstairs seats up to 12. The ground floor dining room takes 37 seated or 50 for canapés, booked semi-exclusively or on its own, and the upstairs dining room seats 40 or holds 55 standing. Take the entire restaurant and you can host up to 136 guests. The ground floor is wheelchair friendly, but the heritage building has no lift to the upper level, so plan accordingly if anyone needs step-free access. Seated functions run on sharing set menus: the Postino Package at $89 per person, the Priority Package at $109 and, for exclusive bookings, a Premium Package at $149. Exclusive events can also choose a canapé package at $95 per person. Drinks can go on consumption or on a package from $65 per person for two hours, and an Aperol Spritz on arrival or a limoncello to finish can be added. Vegetarian and vegan set menus are offered, and most dietary needs can be met with 72 hours' notice.

Pricing

Sharing set menus cost $89 per person (Postino Package) and $109 per person (Priority Package), with a $149 per person Premium Package for exclusive bookings. A canapé package at $95 per person is available for exclusive events. Bookings are secured by credit card and guaranteed at $50 per guest; a 10% service charge applies in private and semi-private areas and a 15% surcharge on public holidays. Cakeage is $5.50 per person for up to 19 guests, or a flat fee from $100 for larger groups.

Food

Function menus are served as shared Italian courses: bread, antipasti such as vitello tonnato and tuna crudo, pasta, a main such as saltimbocca or porchetta, and pistachio tiramisu to finish. One set menu applies to the whole booking. Vegetarian and vegan versions are available, gluten-free pasta can be requested, and suppliers are halal certified.

Beverages

Beverage packages run for two hours at $65, $75 or $100 per person, or four hours at $80, $95 or $135 for exclusive bookings, covering Italian sparkling, white and red wines, Peroni and soft drinks. Drinks can also be charged on consumption, and a welcome Aperol Spritz ($18 per person) or limoncello ($10 per person) can be added. Exclusive bookings can bring their own wine on a $36 per person package that covers wine charges, water, soft drinks, juice, tea and coffee.

Availability

Groups of 10 or more enquire through the group bookings page and the events coordinator confirms space and menu. For exclusive events, 14 days' notice is needed to cancel or cut numbers by more than half.
