About Margaret
Margaret is chef Neil Perry and Sam Perry's flagship restaurant at 30-36 Bay Street in Double Bay, named in memory of Neil's late mother. The cooking centres on a custom wood-fired grill in the open kitchen, turning wild-caught seafood, dry-aged beef bought direct from farmers and peak-season produce into a menu that changes with what is available. It serves dinner Wednesday to Sunday and lunch Thursday to Sunday, and it belongs to a small family of Bay Street venues run by the same team. For private events the entire restaurant can be booked for your group alone. It seats up to 100 for a dinner, or takes up to 150 guests when the room is arranged as a mix of tables and standing space, and the team pitches it for weddings, corporate events, product launches and big celebrations. Smaller groups can book the semi-private dining space instead, which seats 10 to 18 and still feels connected to the energy of the main dining room. Groups of 10 or more eat from one of the restaurant's set menus, which are designed to be shared around the table, alongside a wine list chosen to match. Outside food and drink are not allowed apart from a celebration cake, which carries a $5.50 per person cakeage fee, and decorations such as balloons, confetti and glitter are not permitted. A discretionary 10 percent service charge applies to tables of eight or more, with surcharges on Sundays and public holidays. Entry for wheelchairs is via the Bay Street door and there is an accessible bathroom.
