About Havana Dance Academy
Havana Dance Academy is a Cuban dance school based at Millers Point, on the edge of the Sydney CBD, run by director and principal instructor Fraudy Martin Estrada Megret. Alongside its weekly courses and dance trips to Cuba, the academy hires out its dancers to perform at private parties, corporate functions and festivals, bringing the same authentic styles it teaches to your event. Shows centre on Cuban styles such as salsa, son, cha cha cha and rumba, and the academy also teaches mambo, Afro-Cuban, pilon and rueda de casino. Packages are flexible: you can book a single dancer or a larger team, one show or several performances that mix styles, and you can turn the entertainment into an activity by adding a group class or audience participation so guests get up and try a few steps. The academy lists weddings, birthdays, hens parties, cruises, Christmas parties and corporate functions among the events it caters for, and past clients include the Little Havana Ryde Festival, the Sydney Latin Film Festival and the Sydney Cuban Congress. There is no published price list for performances. You contact the academy with the occasion, date, venue and the kind of show you have in mind, and it puts together a quote. Because the performers are the school's own instructors and dancers, hosts who want a follow-up can also book private lessons, for example to prepare a Cuban dance number for a wedding or a group routine for a milestone party.
