About Rachel Sydney Bellydancer

Rachel is one of Sydney's best-known belly dancers, with more than 20 years of performing and thousands of shows behind her. Before starting her own business she danced with professional and semi-professional companies, she has appeared in large theatre productions and on television, and she remains an active member of Farrah, an association that presents traditional and modern Egyptian dance. She also leads the Ahlam Bellydance Ensemble, a Sydney troupe that performs Egyptian and Iraqi wedding shows and larger group numbers. Her shows are designed to be joyful, culturally respectful and suitable for the whole family. Rachel works with the classic props of Middle Eastern dance, including finger cymbals, veils, wings, a cane and a sword, and she is happy to build a show around your song requests, colour scheme or preferred costume style. Her birthday bookings have ranged from a baby's first to a 90th, and at birthday parties the guest of honour is invited up first when there is audience participation. For weddings and corporate functions she can bring in other experienced dancers for a duo, trio or larger group show. Rachel caters to guests of every background, including Lebanese, Egyptian, Iraqi, Turkish, Greek, Indian and Afghan families, and the performance can suit a backyard, a restaurant or a large function hall. If the venue needs it she can supply props, a spotlight and a sound system.
