About Sydney Party Entertainment
Sydney Party Entertainment is a booking agency started by Gary Johns, a working musician who leads the Sydney Funk Collective. It grew out of his own band being booked out on busy wedding and function nights, when venues and clients kept asking him to recommend someone else he trusted. Because Gary still plays in venues himself, he knows the acts he lists and meets the people he deals with. The roster covers acoustic solo performers, duos, full bands and DJs, along with accordion players, Mexican mariachis, oompah bands, Mexican folkloric dancers and a Bollywood singing and dancing duo that brings its own sound system. The agency supplies entertainment to hotels, leagues clubs, golf clubs and function centres around Sydney, and works with corporate clients as well as private parties, weddings and birthdays. If the performer you want is taken, they will suggest a similar alternative. Cost depends on where the event is, how long it runs, the day of the week and the type of act. Most solo acts start at about $300, while a six-piece band sits around $3,000. Beyond music, the team can arrange waiters and catering, or coordinate an entire event including AV, a timed schedule and supervision on the day or night. Gary's advice is to book early if you have a particular act in mind, as the good ones fill their calendars well ahead.
