About Samba Brazil Entertainment
Samba Brazil Entertainment is a Sydney performance company specialising in Brazilian and Latin shows. It is run by Lucas and Katrina Garcia, a husband-and-wife team whose own backgrounds are in Brazil and Argentina, and who also direct the event entertainment agency The Showmasters Co. The pair put together shows that draw on the Rio carnival and the drumming traditions of Bahia, and the company has been named Sydney's best Brazilian and Latin performance group and a wedding entertainment award winner in several recent years. A typical show combines samba dancers in feathered carnival costumes with a live batucada drum section, and can add breakdancers, capoeira and acrobatics, a fire act with twirling, fire eating and fire fans, and Latin styles such as salsa, lambada, tango and reggaeton. Costumes come in four looks: colourful carnival, all white, colour themed to match your event, or a more covered dress style for conservative crowds and family audiences. Shows can be choreographed for a stage, set up as a surprise entrance, or run as roving and parade entertainment. Weddings are a large part of the calendar, with the team performing at more than 100 receptions a year at venues such as Doltone House, Le Montage and Curzon Hall, often dancing the couple into the room or pulling guests onto the floor. Corporate work includes gala dinners, awards nights, product launches and brand activations, and the company has appeared on Australia's Got Talent, the Today Show and at an NRL multicultural round, as well as on cruise ships and at festivals and exhibitions in Asia. For hens and bucks groups there are samba classes led by a dancer with drummers playing live.
