About Bellydance Bondi
Bellydance Bondi is the dance school and performance business of Carol, who grew up in Spain and trained in classical ballet, belly dance and Latin styles before settling in Sydney. She has more than 20 years of stage experience in several countries. Alongside the weekly classes she runs from Bondi Junction, she takes bookings to perform belly dance at private and corporate events. For weddings she offers a grand entrance with a zaffa-style procession, the traditional drum-led walk that brings a couple into the reception, followed by a show matched to the theme of the day. Birthday bookings are interactive, getting the birthday person and their friends onto the floor. Corporate shows can be pitched at a formal dinner or a livelier party, and for community and cultural festivals she performs family-friendly sets that introduce Middle Eastern dance to the crowd. Her repertoire includes veil work, Isis wings with their sweeping fabric, and Saidi, the Egyptian cane dance also called raks al assaya. An option worth knowing is the animation and workshop combo: after the performance Carol invites people onto the floor and teaches a short, easy belly dance class.
