About Belly Dance Harem
Belly Dance Harem is a Sydney dance entertainment company founded by Jane Jardines, who performs and teaches belly dance in Sydney. Through her network the company supplies dozens of belly dancers, from a solo performer to troupes such as the Desert Stars, along with experienced Arabic drummers who become part of the show. For a Latin flavour there are also Brazilian samba groups backed by live drummers, and capoeira performers whose act mixes dance with martial arts. Shows are built around the event. Wedding floor shows can feature sword balancing, veil, gold wings, stick dancing, finger cymbals, a candelabra dance, a male and female duet and audience participation involving the couple, and many clients open the reception with El-Zaffa, the traditional entrance procession. Jane has danced at weddings and engagements across Sydney for Egyptian, Lebanese, Greek and mixed-culture families. A live diamond python can be added for a striking roving act. Costumes are Egyptian designer pieces decorated with crystals, and changes of costume can be written into longer programmes. Corporate clients can choose a choreographed stage show, roving dancers and drummers, or a meet-and-greet where performers welcome guests at the entrance and pose for photos. Standard performances run for 20 minutes and include all props. For hens groups there are belly dance lessons, with henna, makeup and tarot readings available, and children's parties get an hour of simple dance moves, Arabian games and pass the parcel. Performers cover the Sydney region, and events further away are possible if travel is paid. Prices are quoted on enquiry.
