About The Priory @ The Blind Monk
The Blind Monk is a craft beer bar and restaurant on Beaumont Street in Hamilton, with constantly changing taps, cocktails and a full kitchen. Behind the main bar sits The Priory, its own private function room, which the venue hires out without a room fee. The Priory takes 30 to 70 guests and works for either a seated meal or a cocktail-style party. The room has dark brick walls, a ceiling strung with fairy lights, timber tables, wine barrels used as bar leaners and roller doors along one side, and it is fully air-conditioned. You can plug a phone or laptop into the sound system and play your own music, and you are free to decorate as long as nothing leaves a permanent mark. On Friday and Saturday nights a minimum of 30 guests applies. The only spending requirement is $400 on function food. Platters each feed about 10 to 12 people and range from dips and antipasto to sliders, skewers, pizzas and a taco spread, while three canape packages offer four, six or eight canapes plus a substantial dish. Drinks are ordered as you go, or you can open a bar tab to any amount. A $200 deposit holds the date and is put towards your spend on the night, and birthday cakes can be stored in the cool room with no cakeage.
