About Honeysuckle Hotel
The Honeysuckle Hotel occupies a restored wharf building at Lee Wharf on Honeysuckle Drive, right on the edge of Newcastle Harbour. Inside, the design mixes rustic timber trusses, industrial details and modern fit-out, with glass walls along the water side. The ground floor has the main bar with long social tables and lounges by the fire, a sports lounge with a very large screen, and a bistro, while the deck outside runs along the water. There are two main function areas. The Mezzanine, on Level One above the main bar, looks down over the ground floor and can be hired whole or in part: the right side holds 120 guests, the left side 70, and the whole level 220 for a cocktail party. Both sides have bar access, and full-floor hire comes with a private bar and private restrooms. The Harbour Room is a fully enclosed corner of the deck, closed off behind glass and shaded by a sail, with bar access and room for 70 people. It suits engagement drinks, birthdays and work functions with the harbour as the backdrop. For larger events the team can discuss bigger hire options. Food comes as canapé platters of 20 pieces, from cold options like bruschetta and smoked salmon to hot items such as arancini, satay chicken, sliders and fish and chips, plus dessert platters. In the Harbour Room guests can also buy meals from the bistro. For drinks, you can set a bar tab at a fixed amount or keep it open, adjusting it on the night, or let guests buy their own from a full range of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. A dedicated functions team helps plan each event.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can the Honeysuckle Hotel hold for a function?
The whole Mezzanine takes up to 220 for a cocktail event. Its right side holds 120 and its left side 70, and the private Harbour Room on the deck holds 70.
Is the Harbour Room private?
Yes. It is a fully private section of the deck, closed off by a glass wall and partly covered by a sail, with bar access and harbour views.
What food can we order?
Canapé platters of 20 pieces, with cold, hot, premium and sweet options. Guests in the Harbour Room can also order meals from the bistro.
How do drinks work at a function?
You can set up a bar tab at a fixed amount, with limits on what it covers if you like, and adjust it during the event. Wristbands identify the guests on the tab, and photo ID and a credit card are left at the bar. Alternatively, guests can buy their own drinks.
What does it cost to book a function space?
The functions pack lists a minimum spend for the Mezzanine and a hire fee for the Harbour Room, but the figures aren't published. Ask the functions team for a quote for your date and numbers.
