About Newy Distillery

Newy Distillery is a family-owned, small-batch maker of vodka, gin and liqueurs, best known for its shimmer spirits, and it runs a cocktail bar on site in an industrial unit on Aluminium Close in Edgeworth. The bar sits inside the working distillery itself, among the stills and barrels. Guests come in through a roller door under a large mural, and there is free parking in the distillery's private carpark. For private events the distillery opens after hours, so your group has the whole place to itself. It works for anything from one long table of ten to a crowd of 100 or more, and bookings are taken six days a week. Tables, chairs and bar stools are arranged to suit your plan, the lighting is warm and adjustable, and a Bluetooth PA is set up before guests arrive. Birthdays, engagement parties, hens and bucks nights, work dinners, end-of-year parties and Christmas parties are the usual bookings, and cocktail classes or a guided tasting can be added. There is no venue hire fee. A refundable security deposit holds the date and is returned after the event, and it is also refunded if you cancel at least two months ahead. The full spirits bar is open to your group, including gins and whiskeys made on the premises, and you choose what the bar tab covers: perhaps beer and wine on the tab with guests paying for their own cocktails, or everything. Food can be catered by the distillery, which offers charcuterie and cheese boards, or you can bring your own in. Events are 18 and over.

Newy Distillery charges no venue hire fee for private events. A refundable security deposit secures the date; it is kept against damage and returned after the event, and refunded in full for cancellations made two months or more beforehand. Food and drinks are charged at bar-menu prices to your tab or to guests.

Food

The distillery can cater the event or you can bring your own food. Its bar menu includes a charcuterie board ($48) with two cheeses, salami, olives, semi-dried tomatoes and hummus, a cheese board with fruit ($39), a mini board for two ($26), and snack bowls of chips, pretzels, nuts and popcorn from $3.

Beverages

Your group has the full spirits bar, including gins and whiskeys distilled on site. Cocktails such as espresso martinis, mojitos and gin margaritas run from $22 to $28, cocktail jugs are $38 to $40, bottled beer and cider $10 to $12, prosecco and moscato $9 a glass, and mocktails $12 to $14. The host chooses what goes on the bar tab and guests can buy the rest themselves.

Availability

Private events are held after hours, six days a week. Send the date, numbers and occasion through the enquiry form and the events team replies within one business day; a refundable deposit then locks in the date.

How many guests can Newy Distillery host?

Private events run from groups of about 10 up to 100 or more. A small group can take a single long table, while larger parties use the whole distillery bar.

Is there a hire fee for the distillery?

No. The venue is free to hire. You pay a refundable security deposit to secure the date, which is held against any damage and returned after the event. Cancelling two months or more before the date also gets the deposit back.

Can we bring our own food?

Yes. The distillery can cater for you, with charcuterie, cheese and mini boards plus snack bowls on its bar menu, or you are welcome to bring food in yourself.

How does the bar tab work?

You decide what goes on it. Some hosts cover beer and wine and let guests buy their own cocktails, others put the whole bar on the tab, and you can also leave everything for guests to pay as they go. Cocktails on the bar menu start at $22 and cocktail jugs at $38.

Is music allowed, and what is set up for us?

A Bluetooth PA is ready when you arrive so you can play your own music. The team also arranges tables, chairs and bar stools to your brief and sets the lighting to suit. A guided tasting can be added to the night.
