Young & Jackson has stood on the corner of Swanston and Flinders Streets since 1861. The heritage-listed pub faces Flinders Street Station and Federation Square, and mixes a classic public bar downstairs with lounges, a dining room and a rooftop upstairs. It is also home to Chloe, the nude portrait that has hung in the building since 1909 and gives the first-floor rooms their name. There are several ways to book it for a party. The Salon Lounge holds 70 standing, or 110 once Chloe's Bar is added, which brings your own private bar and room for a dance floor, DJ or band. Chloe's Restaurant seats 70 across both rooms, with a smaller private dining room for 36. Taking the entire first floor gives you the bar and restaurant spaces together, with up to 180 standing or 90 seated and complete privacy. Up top, the rooftop bar is decorated with murals by local artists, comes with its own bar and bathroom and suits up to 80 standing, while the ground-floor Corner Bar takes 60 with a private bar and a TV for live sport. Food starts with a core canapé package of five canapés, or two canapés and two substantials, for $25 per person, with extra canapés and substantials, dessert and antipasto grazing tables available. Seated groups can choose a two-course set menu for $65 or three courses for $80. Drinks run as a standard or premium package for two to four hours, a bar tab with a limit you set, or a cash bar. A 3 x 3 m parquetry dance floor is free for cocktail parties, and you can bring your own DJ (a $150 security fee applies to amplified music). A dedicated functions manager plans and runs each event.
