About Alto Event Space
Alto Event Space takes up the top floor of the Melbourne GPO building, on the corner of Elizabeth and Little Bourke Streets. Guests come in from Postal Lane, where staff meet them and take them up in the lifts. The venue is run and fully catered by Damm Fine Food Co., and every booking gets a coordinator during planning plus a supervisor on the night. The main room is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows and anchored by a polished brass bar, and it moves from a seated dinner to a dance floor without a change of rooms. Outside is a 150 square metre open-air terrace looking across the CBD, which also works as a ceremony spot. The venue takes up to 400 guests cocktail style or 150 seated, and the ceiling is rigged for draping, florals and chandeliers. Menus come from the Damm Fine Food Co. kitchen: cold and warm canapés, substantial bites, supper bowls and dessert canapés for cocktail events, or a shared or plated dining menu with dietary options marked. Martini bars, wine pairings and mobile bar carts can be added. For private celebrations the published price is $121 per person for a four-hour package, plus venue hire of $1,650. Packages run from two hours to six or more, and the licence allows events to finish at 1am any night of the week.
