About Good Heavens
Good Heavens sits on Level 2 at 79 Bourke Street, at the Paris end of the street where it meets Exhibition Street. The 86 and 96 trams pull up at the door, and Parliament Station is nearby. The rooftop spreads across two neighbouring buildings, with a 70s-inspired fit-out, a central alfresco fireplace and a brutalist-style bar front. It is reached by stairs only because of the building's age. Functions run from 30 guests upwards. The Nook is a semi-private corner for 30 to 40, Fireplace A and Fireplace B each take 40 to 60, and The Terrace holds 40 to 60 with long outlooks down Bourke Street. For bigger numbers the whole rooftop can be booked exclusively for up to 400. Most of the space is under a roof, with retractable blinds and walls, so an outdoor party still goes ahead when the weather turns. Canapé packages run from $37 per person for four pieces to $50 for six including a substantial item, with smoked brisket sliders, party pies, empanadas and croquettes on the list and dietary needs catered for. Drinks packages cover three or four hours, from $73 per person, and add-ons include a spritz or cocktail on arrival, a Champagne upgrade and a bespoke grazing table. The bar pours ten beers on tap and a cocktail list built on retro favourites. One planner looks after each event and quotes the whole thing upfront.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can Good Heavens hold for a function?
Bookings start at 30 guests. The Nook takes 30 to 40, Fireplace A and Fireplace B take 40 to 60 each, The Terrace holds 40 to 60, and an exclusive hire of the full rooftop goes up to 400.
What do the canapé packages cost?
The Deluxe package is $37 per person for four canapés, Premium is $45 per person for five and Signature is $50 per person for six, including a substantial piece. Extra substantial items are $9 each and desserts $8 each.
What drinks packages are there?
Three packages run for three or four hours: Deluxe at $73 or $93 per person, Premium at $90 or $120, and Signature at $120 or $160. All include non-alcoholic options, and spirits come into the Premium and Signature lists.
What happens if it rains?
Most of the terrace sits under a fixed roof, and blinds and walls can be pulled across against wind and rain, so a booking still goes ahead in poor weather.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
No. The building is old and the rooftop can only be reached by stairs. The team suggests calling ahead if anyone in your group needs help planning their visit.
