About Witches in Britches

Witches in Britches is a theatre restaurant at 84 Dudley Street in West Melbourne, housed in a building dressed up as a lit-up witches' castle. The same family has run it since it opened in 1990. Every night follows a set rhythm. Guests arrive around 7pm, walk through the catacombs tunnel to the bar, then take their seats in the theatre where entrées come out at 7:30pm. The main course is served while the host warms up the room, and the first act of a two-hour comedy musical starts at about 8:30pm. Dessert arrives at interval, and the show wraps up around 10:30pm. After the performance, the dungeon disco keeps going with a resident DJ until 1am. The shows lean on pop culture, adult humour and plenty of audience participation, and dressing up is encouraged though there is no dress code. Celebrations are the core of the business. Birthday groups can add a cake and a drink for each guest, hens and bucks have their own add-on packages, and a guest's photo can be shown on the theatre projector on the night. General admission with dinner and the show is $99 per person, or $109 on Saturdays. VIP tickets are $135 per person with gourmet canapés, a standard drink, priority seating, a group photo and a gift, or $150 with a cocktail shaker for two in place of the drink.

Celebration add-ons are charged per person on top of the ticket: $14 for bucks, $22 or $30 for birthdays, and $32 for hens. A show-only ticket without dinner is $55.

Food

Every dinner ticket includes three courses served through the show: an entrée, a choice of mains such as slow-cooked roast beef, stuffed chicken, barramundi or vegan gnocchi, and a dessert such as chocolate mudcake or baked cheesecake.

The menu changes with the seasons. Dietary requirements need to be given when booking so the kitchen can cater for them.

Beverages

Drinks are bought from the bar through the night, and celebration add-ons bundle in a glass of wine, sparkling, beer, a cocktail or a soft drink. Drink packages and Christmas drink deals are available on enquiry.

Availability

Shows run on Friday and Saturday nights, with VIP doors at 6:30pm and general admission doors at 7pm. Groups of 12 or more and exclusive bookings are arranged with the events team, so send an enquiry with your date.

What does a ticket at Witches in Britches include?

What birthday packages are available?

For $22 per person on top of the ticket, each guest gets a slice of birthday cake plus a house wine, sparkling or soft drink. The $30 per person option swaps that drink for a cocktail. You can also bring your own cake, which the box office looks after until it is brought out at interval. Cake orders and any photo for the projector need to be in by the Wednesday before your booking.

Are there hens and bucks night packages?

Yes. The hens add-on is $32 per person for a cocktail of your choice and a syringe jelly shot, and the bride-to-be's ticket is free when the group buys 12 or more general admission tickets. The bucks add-on is $14 per person and includes a stubbie holder plus a beer, sparkling or soft drink.

Can we book the whole venue for a corporate function?

Yes. Exclusive use of the venue can be arranged for corporate events, and work Christmas parties can be booked with Christmas packages and drink deals. Send an enquiry with your date and numbers to discuss the options.

Is the show suitable for all ages?

The shows are rated MA15+, with adult themes, sexual references and coarse language, but no nudity. Guests aged 15 and over are recommended, and younger guests can attend if the adults in the group are comfortable with the content.
