About The Ballroom @ Leonda By The Yarra

Leonda By The Yarra is a function centre on the riverbank at 2 Wallen Road, Hawthorn, run by Melbourne Event Group. It hosts wedding receptions and ceremonies, corporate conferences and dinners, university balls and private parties from baby showers to milestone birthdays, in two rooms: The Ballroom and the smaller Garden Room. Trams 70 and 75 stop at Power Street and Riversdale Road, and there are up to 150 free parking spaces on site. The Ballroom has its own entrance into a foyer and the Marble Bar, used for canapés and drinks before guests move into the main room. The room is pillar-free, with ceilings over four metres high, a large central dance floor, floor-to-ceiling windows along the river, a balcony looking down to the Leonda jetty, fifteen ceiling rigging points and blackout facilities. It seats 510 at a banquet, 450 with a dance floor, 344 cabaret style, or holds 1,000 for a cocktail event. There are raised stages for a head table and a band or DJ, and a VIP room for the hosts. AV is built in: two large screens, a projector, HDMI and display port connections, two handheld microphones and a lectern with microphone. The in-house chefs prepare canapés and plated or shared menus, and drinks are served from beverage packages. Clients can choose an all-inclusive package or venue hire, priced by quote, and the venue is accessible with ramps, wide doors, accessible toilets and accessible parking.

Pricing

Leonda By The Yarra does not publish reception or event prices; it quotes each event on a venue hire plus per-person package model, based on the season, date and guest numbers. A minimum commitment is agreed at booking, progress payments fall due six and three months before the event with the balance seven days prior, and a $2,000 event bond is held as a credit card pre-authorisation for weddings.

Food

The in-house chefs serve canapés on arrival, plated or shared multi-course lunch and dinner menus and cocktail-style menus designed to be eaten standing. Menus can be customised, and quarterly group menu tastings are held for booked clients.

Beverages

Drinks are supplied through the venue's beverage packages, such as the Classic Beverage Package of sparkling, white and red wines and beer included in its wedding packages. Beverage service ends half an hour before the event finishes.

Availability

Enquire through the venue's events team by phone or the website. A tentative hold can be placed on a date for three days, and the booking is confirmed once the signed agreement and deposit are received.

Is the venue accessible and is there parking?

Yes. The venue has ramps, wide doors, accessible toilets and accessible parking. Up to 150 free car spaces on site are shared between the Ballroom and Garden Room events, and trams 70 and 75 stop at Power Street.

When can our suppliers get in to set up?

Suppliers have access from two hours before the event starts, with a one-hour bump-out afterwards. Longer bump-in or bump-out time can be arranged for an extra charge.
