The Glenferrie Hotel is a three-storey pub on Burwood Road in Hawthorn, close to Glenferrie Road, which grew from a private house into a hotel in 1888. Today it runs a public bar with tap beer and live sport, an a la carte dining menu of pub classics, and guest rooms upstairs, and the team says it hosts hundreds of functions a year across two private areas. The Beer Garden is the larger of the two and the one built for parties. It holds up to 200 people standing, and around 100 for a seated meal (the home page quotes up to 120 seated). A large retractable roof and heating keep it usable in any weather, and the garden has its own private bar with a dedicated bartender, private bathrooms, four to six HDMI televisions, microphones and a plug-in for a DJ or your own music. Booking the garden also gives you use of the pub's barbecue facilities for a more relaxed set-up. For smaller groups, the Glenferrie Room sits behind the garden and takes 80 standing or 50 seated, with its own bar, heating and cooling and two televisions. The pub's kitchen caters functions and the team works to your requirements, whether that is a stand-up party, a long lunch or a sit-down dinner.
