About Stray Neighbour
Stray Neighbour is a bar and eatery on Plenty Road in Preston, set in what was once a 600-square-metre panel beaters' workshop. Local friends turned it into a relaxed place for food, local beer and cocktails, and it now takes functions of all sizes. The Booth Area is the casual option: fixed booths and room to stand, gathered around a wood fire heater and a three-quarter pool table. It suits a laid-back birthday or work drinks where people want to move around and chat. The Dining Room is the more formal space, laid out for sit-down dinners, and it can be cleared into a cocktail party with direct access to the main bar. The beer garden adds an outdoor area for casual get-togethers, and the whole venue can be booked exclusively for weddings and larger celebrations. The kitchen runs a function menu that can be adjusted. Canapé packages start at $39 per person, with options such as spicy fried chicken, croquettes, pintxos and sliders, and grazing platters, oysters and dessert platters can be added. Seated guests share entrées and mains from $69 per person, or a longer menu with dessert at $90 per person. The bar pours cocktails, tap beers including the venue's own lager and pale ale, and a list of Australian and imported wines. Drinks for a function are arranged with the events team when you book. Minimum spends only apply to exclusive bookings and Friday or Saturday evenings. The team can also put you in touch with florists, stylists and furniture hire companies they work with, so send an enquiry to book.
