About Purple Emerald Lounge Bar

Purple Emerald Lounge Bar is a cocktail bar at 349 High Street, Northcote, which has traded in the suburb since 2012. The look is retro comfort – deep couches, vintage lamps, chandeliers and disco balls – and the kitchen sends out share plates until late. Functions can take one of two areas or the whole bar. The Front Main Room suits groups of 20 to 85, with exclusive use from 50 guests, and it can be cleared for a dance floor with a DJ or your own playlist. Out the back, the Sundeck holds 40 to 75 guests in its own covered area. A retractable roof and gas heating keep it usable through the year, and it is dressed with fairy lights and flowers, with a large screen for a photo slideshow. For 100 to 150 guests, the entire venue can be booked for exclusive use. In most cases there is no hire fee, and the bar can open for a private party seven days a week, day or night. Catering comes from the in-house kitchen as function platters of 30 pieces – sliders, mini schnitzel burgers, arancini, skewers, meatballs, vegan rice paper rolls and sushi bites – along with dips and cheese boards. Gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian items are marked on the menu. The bar pours cocktails, spritzes, draught beer, more than 15 gins, whiskies and bourbons, plus alcohol-free cocktails. A projector, sound system and microphone for speeches come with venue hire, and entry is step-free with an accessible bathroom.

Pricing

In most cases there is no hire fee for a function. Food is ordered as platters, priced per platter of 30 pieces from $95 to $165, with dips boards from $110 and cheese boards from $115.

Food

The in-house kitchen supplies function platters: mini chicken schnitzel burgers, pulled pork, beef or haloumi sliders, spinach or bolognese arancini, potato croquettes, beef sausage rolls, chicken and lamb skewers, meatballs and vegetarian pizza bites.

Vegan san choi bau, sushi bites and rice paper rolls, wedges, dips boards and cheese boards round it out, with gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian items marked.

Beverages

The bar serves cocktails, spritzes, draught beer, wine, cider, alcohol-free cocktails, more than 15 gins, and a shelf of Japanese and single malt whisky and small-batch bourbon. No set drinks packages for functions are published, so drinks are arranged when you enquire.
