About Morris House
Morris House is a pub spread over four levels on the corner of Exhibition and Little Collins Streets. The basement is a New York-style comedy club, the ground floor is a dining room with a share-plate menu, Level One is a bar with booths, a stage and a terrace, and the top floor is a leafy rooftop bar with city views and DJs later in the week. Nearly every part of the building can be booked. Level One, with its live music stage, private bar, booths and balcony over the street, takes 200 standing or 80 theatre style. The basement Comedy Club has exposed brick, a stage and its own bar, and suits 150 standing or 120 seated theatre style. The rooftop, with glass balustrades and retractable awnings for changeable weather, can be hired outright for 180, or in semi-private sections of 40 to 80. Level One and the rooftop together hold 450 standing, and the whole of Morris House can be taken exclusively for up to 730. Note that the dining room, Level One and rooftop are reached by stairs only; the basement has a wheelchair lift from the Exhibition Street entrance. Catering runs from canapés at $40 per person for six pieces, $49 for eight and $61 for ten, to platters of 30 pieces, substantials, an oyster shucker and a charcuterie and cheese table, plus morning tea and sandwich platters for daytime corporate events. Drinks come as standard, premium or deluxe packages for two to four hours, a bar tab you control, or a cash bar, with spirits and arrival cocktails as add-ons. For something extra, the team can arrange a champagne tower, a tiramisu tower, a photobooth, comedians from the basement stage, DJs or live music.
