About Level One @ The Hawthorn Hotel
The Hawthorn Hotel, known locally as The Hawka, is a long-standing pub on Burwood Road in Hawthorn. Downstairs it runs as a busy local with a retractable-roof beer garden, sports screens and pub dining, while its functions team books thirteen different areas for birthdays, corporate events, Christmas functions, hens parties and other celebrations. Level One means exclusive use of the pub's entire first floor. It has its own fully serviced bar and toilets, a raised stage, an outdoor deck and a range of furniture that can be set for a relaxed seated meal or a standing cocktail party, holding 100 seated or 400 standing. The floor is made up of smaller rooms that can also be booked on their own – the Ethel Room with its stage (80 standing), the Alumni Lounge and deck (80 standing) and the Glenferrie Room (40 standing) – so a smaller group can take part of the level instead. Food is ordered from the function pack: canapé packages of six, eight or ten pieces at $37, $45 and $56 per person, 25-piece platters, a grazing table at $41 per person for 30 or more, or a shared sit-down menu at $61 per person for two courses and $73 for three. Drinks packages run from $48 per person for two hours, with spirits upgrades and cocktails or champagne on arrival available, or you can set a bar tab with a limit that can be raised during the night. The kitchen caters for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets.
