About Foundry Kitchen & Bar
Foundry Kitchen & Bar is on level six of the Mercure hotel at 492 La Trobe Street, West Melbourne, reached through the hotel lobby and lifts. Its menu leans on familiar, hearty dishes made for sharing, served beside a long restaurant bar, an open kitchen and a marble island. Windows run floor to ceiling, so most rooms take in Flagstaff Gardens and the city skyline. Trams 30 and 35 stop outside the hotel, and Southern Cross and Flagstaff stations are both close by. The venue splits into six areas. The Flagstaff Gardens Dining Room seats 70 or holds 135 for a cocktail event, The Kitchen seats 40 shared or buffet style, and the City View Terrace takes 24 seated or 60 standing. The Bar holds 30, rising to 90 when booked with the terrace, and there is a private dining room for 11 and a boardroom for 10. Food comes as canapé packages of four, six or nine pieces, two shared set menus, a grazing table or a fuller artisan grazing spread, both needing at least 20 guests. Dietary needs are catered for with notice. Drinks packages run for two hours of free-flowing service, with a cocktail welcome hour and a packaged beer and cider upgrade on offer. Events may carry a minimum spend, which packages and bar spend count towards. Groups of eight or more can arrange private dining, and the events team tailors larger functions to numbers and budget. Pricing
The Grazing Table is $32 per person and the Foundry Artisan Grazing Station is $48 per person, both for at least 20 guests. Day delegate packages are $80 per person for a half day and $95 for a full day.
Some events carry a minimum spend, met through food, drinks and approved extras. A 50% deposit secures the booking.
Food
Grazing options cover cheeses, cured meats, dips, fruit and breads, and the artisan station adds smoked salmon, prawns, burrata and terrine. Dietary needs are catered for with advance notice.
Beverages
A pre-event cocktail welcome hour adds $25 per person and a packaged beer and cider upgrade adds $10 per person. Drinks selections are confirmed 14 days before the event.

How many guests can Foundry Kitchen & Bar host?
Up to 135 guests cocktail-style in the Flagstaff Gardens Dining Room, which seats 70 for dinner. Smaller groups can use the City View Terrace (60 standing), The Kitchen (40 seated) or the private dining room for 11.
What do the canapé and set-menu packages cost?
Canapé packages are $25 per person for four pieces, $35 for six and $45 for nine. The shared set menus are $69 per person for The Foundry Feast and $79 per person for The Forge Feast.
Are there drinks packages?
Yes. The Cheers package is $30 per person, The Celebration is $50 and Foundry Signature is $75, each covering two hours of free-flowing drinks. Extra hours cost $10, $20 or $25 per person depending on the package, and a cocktail welcome hour can be added for $25 per person.
Is there a deposit or minimum spend?
The booking is confirmed once the agreement is signed and a 50% deposit is paid. Some events carry a minimum spend, which food packages, drinks and approved extras count towards, with the balance and final numbers due 14 days before the date.
Can the venue cater for dietary requirements?
The kitchen makes an effort to cater for dietary needs when told in advance, and the menus mark gluten-friendly, dairy-free, nut-free, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Because food is prepared in a shared kitchen, allergens can't be ruled out completely.
