About Excelsior Hotel
The Excelsior Hotel is a local pub on Mahoneys Road in Thomastown, on the corner of Edgars Road. Alongside its bistro, sports bar and motel rooms, it runs a function room for private celebrations. The room has a private entrance and opens straight onto the bar, so your group isn't queuing with the public. A TV is on hand for photo slideshows, and you can hook into the house sound system or bring in your own DJ. Packages cover five hours in the room with food and beverage staff, a projector and AV. The standard version includes eight catering platters and a $500 bar tab for $1,500, while the premium version lifts that to 14 platters for $2,000. Platters run from calamari, satay skewers and arancini to pizza, pastizzi, party pies and sandwiches. For a seated meal there is a two or three course set menu served alternately, with roasts, rump steak, ravioli and battered fish among the mains. Dietary needs can be handled with notice, and extras such as a digital photo booth can be added. Free parking on site makes it easy for bigger groups, and the functions team can tailor a package – send an enquiry to book.

How many guests can the function room hold?
The venue's own packages for the room cater for groups of up to 100 guests. Share your numbers when you enquire and the team will suggest a layout.
What do the room packages include?
Both packages give you five hours in the room, food and beverage staff, a projector, AV and a $500 bar tab. The $1,500 standard package comes with eight catering platters and the $2,000 premium package with 14.
Can we bring our own DJ?
Yes. The function room can connect to the in-house sound system, or you can bring a DJ and use the space for dancing, and a TV is available for slideshows.
Is there a sit-down menu?
A two or three course set menu is available, with dishes served on an alternate drop and a minimum guest number applying. Mains include a roast of the day, rump steak, chicken breast, spinach and ricotta ravioli and battered fish.
Is there parking at the hotel?
There is plenty of free parking on site, which suits larger events. The hotel also has motel rooms if any guests want to stay over.
