About Back Alley Sally's
Back Alley Sally's is a bar off a laneway on Yewers Street in Footscray, in the river precinct end of the suburb. The building was once a t-shirt printing works, and the main bar now sits upstairs, with a downstairs bar that trades through the day. It runs as a local pub-style bar most nights, with trivia, karaoke, live music on Fridays and a DJ on Saturdays, so the room is set up for a crowd. For functions there are two main options. The Garden is a semi-private room with glass louvres and direct access to the bar, sized for groups of roughly 20 to 50. Groups of 60 or more can book the run of the venue, which allows a mix of seated and standing service while guests keep full access to the bar; the garden stays open to walk-in drinkers in that arrangement. If you want the whole place to yourselves, exclusive use can be requested when you enquire, and there is no venue hire fee. Food is handled in-house and keeps to share-style basics: three tiers of packages built from six, eight or ten choices of wood-fired pizza and canapés, plus grazing boards with a vegan version. Packages apply to bookings of 20 or more and can be paired with a two- or three-hour beverage package covering the tap list, house wines, cider and soft drinks. Most dietary needs can be covered with a week's notice, though the kitchen is not halal certified. You can bring a birthday cake or dessert, but no other outside food or drink. Bookings of 25 or more pay a $500 refundable deposit that then goes on the tab.

Hidden away but worth searching out. Amazing staff, great vibes upstairs. Great little corner store downstairs. Recommend for functions or a cheeky drink with friends. Located it a really good part of Footscray too.
