About The Marquee People
The Marquee People is a Melbourne marquee hire company based in Dandenong South and founded by Hamish Little, who has more than 25 years in the event industry. The team designs and installs marquees for weddings, corporate functions, festivals and private parties at homes, parks and gardens. There are five main structures. The SoHo comes in a light Dawn finish and a darker Dusk finish, with a pole-free frame in 6, 10, 12 and 15 metre widths that extends in 5 metre steps. The Pinnacle is a sailcloth marquee with spruce poles, an oval shape and tall windows, 13.7 metres wide and seating up to 220 guests leaving room for a stage, a bar and dancing. The Mayfair is a traditional peaked pole marquee, 12 metres wide in 6 metre sections, where a 12 by 12 metre tent seats about 100 to 120 for dinner. The Arbour is a modular frame starting at 3 by 3 metres that can be joined with gutters into larger spaces. Each marquee can be fitted out with timber-look floors, carpet tiles, synthetic grass or dance floors, black, white or ecru liners, dimmable lighting from soft glow to party colour, decking, glass or standard doors, and heating and cooling. The crew can shade a clear roof before guests arrive and rig the roof to carry a hanging floral installation. The process starts with a chat and then a site visit to check vehicle access, carry distance, ground slope, trees, power and toilets, so the plan suits the space. The team handles the setup and pack-down and can recommend caterers, furniture hire, AV, florists and stylists.

Frequently asked questions
What marquee styles do The Marquee People hire?
There are five: the SoHo in Dawn and Dusk finishes with a pole-free frame, the sailcloth Pinnacle, the traditional Mayfair pole marquee and the modular Arbour, which joins up in 3 metre steps.
How many guests fit in a marquee?
It depends on the style and size. The Pinnacle seats up to 220, a 12 by 12 metre Mayfair seats about 100 to 120 for dinner, and a 12 by 36 metre Mayfair seats over 300.
Do they visit the site before quoting?
Yes. After a first chat the team visits to check truck access, carry distance, slope, trees and sprinklers, measure the area and talk through power, toilets, lighting and catering needs.
What flooring and lighting can be added?
Choose timber-look floors, carpet tiles, synthetic grass or a dance floor, plus lighting with dimmers and faders, wall and roof liners, decking, glass doors, and heating or cooling.
Can flowers be hung from the marquee roof?
Yes. Let the team know what you have in mind so the structure is built to carry it, and they will coordinate with your florist so the installation goes up once the marquee is ready.
