About Escape Room Melbourne South Melbourne
Escape Room Melbourne runs three of its rooms from a converted factory at 12-18 Yarra St in South Melbourne, a short stroll from the South Melbourne Market. All three were designed in-house by two puzzle-makers who hold PhDs in psychology. Mine Escape sends your team into a deserted mining office to bring missing workers back to the surface. Kellar's Magic Emporium is a try-out for the job of magician's assistant, set among old stage posters, and it leans a little creepy. Fractured, the hardest of the set, puts you inside the mind of a Second World War veteran in a coma, where you reconnect his memories to bring him round. Each game is private to your group and runs for 70 minutes. You sign a waiver on arrival, get a walkthrough of the venue, and are handed a walkie-talkie so a staff member can drip-feed hints whenever you ask. Mine Escape and Fractured take two to six players and Kellar's takes two to five, so a party of up to 18 can book all three rooms side by side and turn it into a race. For larger crews the team also arranges back-to-back sessions, and for 13 or more beginners it suggests running Kellar's and Mine twice rather than including Fractured. Prices are per player and fall as the team gets bigger, with weekend rates a few dollars higher than weekdays. The South Melbourne rooms take players from 12, and anyone under 16 needs a guardian in the room. The venue is not licensed, so there is no alcohol and no food inside the rooms, which makes it easy to follow the game with dinner or drinks nearby. Trams on the 12 and 58 routes stop close by, and there is street parking.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Escape Room Melbourne in South Melbourne cost?
Pricing is per player and depends on team size and day. On weekdays it runs from $59 each for two down to $39 each for six; on weekends from $65 each for two down to $45 each for six.
How many people can play at the South Melbourne venue?
Each room takes two to six players, except Kellar's Magic Emporium which takes up to five. Booking all three rooms at once fits up to 18 people, and back-to-back sessions can be arranged for bigger groups.
Which room should a group of first-timers choose?
Mine Escape is the friendliest starting point. Kellar's Magic Emporium is more challenging and psychologically creepy, while Fractured is the hardest room, has flashing lights and loud sounds, and is not recommended for first-time players.
Can kids play the South Melbourne escape rooms?
Players aged 12 and over can book the South Melbourne rooms, and anyone under 16 must have a parent or guardian in the room with them. Fractured is not suitable for anyone under 16.
Can we bring food or drinks to the escape rooms?
No. The premises are not licensed, so alcohol is not allowed, and food cannot be taken into the rooms. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars around South Melbourne for before or after your game.
