About Brooks and Baker
Brooks and Baker is a Melbourne entertainment company devoted to all things vintage. Its dancers, singers and circus artists recreate the look and sound of past eras, with costumes, make-up and music researched for period detail and staged with modern production. The team works with technicians and designers to build each event's world, from a speakeasy to a Paris cabaret. Each show has its own era. The Gatsby Party brings flapper dancers, an MC, a jazz band, vocalists, acrobats and paparazzi characters. Parisian Can Can recreates Montmartre with showgirls and ruffled skirts. Hooray for Hollywood greets guests on the red carpet in top hat and tails before a set of classic film dance numbers. Victory Swing revives the forties, Jukebox Jive brings 1950s rock and roll, and Sixties Swing has everyone twisting. A Peaky Blinders theme is also offered. Most shows finish with the dancers teaching guests a few steps from the era. Sing & Swing is an hour-long show combining the Wild Tonics vocal trio, the Gatsby Girls and an MC, with acrobats and a live band as extras. Vocalists also perform the national anthem and I Am Australian at council citizenship ceremonies.
