About Azra Belly Dancer
Azra is a Melbourne belly dancer who has been performing since 2010 and has more than 2000 shows behind her. She dances Egyptian, Turkish and Arabic belly dance in both traditional and modern styles, and also performs Bollywood and Persian dance, drawing on a wardrobe of more than 50 costumes. Her shows are built around props as much as movement. A performance can include veil work, a cane routine, a sword balanced while dancing, multicoloured LED fans and LED wings, and a fire act with flaming fans. She performs solo or in group choreographies, and can bring other dancers along with live darbuka and sitar musicians for a fuller Middle Eastern set. Azra is booked for birthdays, weddings, hens nights, Christmas parties, corporate functions, festivals and restaurant nights, and she has danced at many of Melbourne's Persian restaurants for Nowruz celebrations. She adjusts each show to the crowd, from a lively party set to a more elegant performance for a formal dinner. She also runs belly dance and Bollywood workshops for hens nights and work events, and is a qualified dance teacher who performs at children's parties and school incursions, holding a current Working With Children Check and public liability insurance.
