About Maison Burlesque
Maison Burlesque runs its burlesque academy from a characterful building at 308 St Georges Rd in Thornbury. Alongside term courses and casual classes, the studio is styled for private parties and catered functions, with a vintage and retro look, and the team has more than 15 years of experience running burlesque-themed celebrations. Hens nights are its speciality, but the same packages work for birthdays and other private occasions. The core party is a 1.5-hour private burlesque workshop for groups of eight or more. It opens with a glass of bubbly, then one of the studio's performers teaches the group the basics of the tease and a short routine. The guest of honour receives a gift pack, and everyone gets a light-hearted lesson in tassel twirling. Optional extras include a live performance and props such as boas and feather fans, and other dance styles can be arranged for a party on request. Larger groups of 15 or more can book the Glitter Package, a 2.5-hour private event in which the venue supplies food, drinks and entertainment. Guests can either dive further into burlesque or try burlesque life drawing with local performers as models. Custom packages are available, and pricing is quoted per booking, so call or email the team with your numbers and date. All Maison Burlesque classes and events are for people aged 18 and over, and classes are open to every gender. Wear something comfortable that lets you move freely. Note that the studio is reached by seven steps with no lift, so it isn't wheelchair accessible.

Is there an age limit?
Yes. Everyone attending Maison Burlesque classes, workshops, events and performances must be 18 or older. Classes are open to all genders, and beginners with no dance background are welcome.
Is the studio wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately not. The Thornbury studio has no lift and is reached via seven steps, with a small step up into reception and one down into the bathroom. Contact the team before booking if anyone in the group has access needs.
