About Dwayne Nichols Marriage Celebrant
Dwayne Nichols is an authorised Commonwealth civil marriage celebrant based in Essendon, in Melbourne's inner west. He sees his role as guiding couples calmly through the marriage process and making sure the ceremony itself is something everyone enjoys, with words that sound natural and like the two of you. Planning starts with the questions that shape a ceremony: traditional or something different, how many guests, the size of the wedding party, any jobs for younger relatives, songs you love, readings or poems, and people you would like remembered on the day. Dwayne has vow and reading resources you can adapt, and if you want one he will run a rehearsal at the venue at no extra charge – handy with a large bridal party or children involved. There are two ways to book him. The simple ceremony is registry style: a single NOIM meeting, a short legal ceremony for the couple and two witnesses at your home or a park in your suburb, and lodgement of all the paperwork and certificates. The personalised ceremony adds meetings as needed, unlimited phone and email contact, a PA and microphones so your songs can play as guests arrive, through the ceremony and afterwards, and travel within 100 km of Essendon. He takes care of the legal side throughout, including identity checks, proof of divorce where needed and the Declaration of No Legal Impediment. Meetings at his Essendon office are by appointment; get in touch with your date, venue and approximate guest numbers.

Frequently asked questions
What is the simple ceremony option?
It is a registry-style wedding: a single meeting to fill in the NOIM paperwork, then a short legal ceremony with the couple and two witnesses at your home or a nearby park in the same suburb.
Is a rehearsal extra?
No. If you would like one, Dwayne will meet you at the venue to work out where everyone stands and moves, at no extra charge. It helps most with big wedding parties or when children have a role.
How far does Dwayne travel?
The personalised package includes travel within 100 km of Essendon, which takes in all of Melbourne; further distances may attract an extra fee.
What documents do we need?
The NOIM must be signed a month or more ahead of the wedding, with ID such as a passport, birth certificate or licence; anyone married before needs a divorce order or death certificate.
Does he provide sound equipment?
Yes. Personalised ceremonies come with a PA and microphones, so guests can hear every word and your chosen songs can play before, through and after the vows.
