About A Stand-up Celebrant
A Stand-up Celebrant is Paul Bonadio, a Melbourne wedding celebrant who has been marrying couples for around ten years. Before that he cut his teeth in stand-up comedy, performing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and he loves writing – which shows in ceremonies built to keep guests laughing, then reaching for tissues. His aim is to make the ceremony a highlight of the day. He gets to know both of you, finds the small, funny truths in your relationship and exaggerates them gently, while keeping the emotional moments in balance. He recommends a ceremony of around 20 to 25 minutes, and he is happy to take the pressure off introverted couples who would rather not perform. Two touches set him apart. Pimp My Celebrant lets you choose the outfit he wears on the day, and Love to LOLs lets you set the ratio of jokes to sentiment. The essentials are covered too: the legal paperwork, his own sound gear, unlimited planning catch-ups, and help writing and polishing your vows. If you want him beyond the ceremony, there are two MC packages – one running until after the speeches, the other through to close. Booking starts with a free consultation over coffee or a drink, after which he gets to work on your script and the legals.
