About Lily and Mae
Lily and Mae started life as a floristry studio and has since grown into a design practice that handles both the flowers and the wider look of a wedding or event. Founder Lily Johnson trained at Pearson's School of Floristry on a scholarship and has designed hundreds of weddings, including one in the south of France. Her approach is to read the couple, the venue and the season, then build the flowers into a single visual story. The Hunter Valley features heavily in the studio's journal. Couples have married at Redleaf Wollombi under summer palettes of watermelon dahlias or buttery lemon roses with cosmos, and at Wallalong House with Roman-feast tables in burgundy and ivory. An editorial at Albion Farm Gardens at Woodville saw garden roses spilling down a set of sandstone steps. There are two services. Floral design, from $4,500, includes a design consultation, a mood board, access to the vase and vessel collection and the florist team on the day. Styling, from $4,000, adds two consultations and covers linen, tableware, stationery, candles, lighting, furniture and decorative pieces, with the studio managing outside hire and overseeing the bump-in and bump-out. Brand and event work starts at a $1,000 minimum. Enquiries receive a custom quote and proposal within two to five business days, and a 30% deposit secures the date. Booked couples get a client portal for invoices, contracts and questionnaires, plus one or two design consults before the day.
