About Monty King Celebrant
Monty King is a Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrant and wedding MC who has been marrying couples across the Hunter Valley since 2015. With more than 800 weddings done, he knows the vineyards, the private-property paddocks and the wet-weather fallbacks, and he will turn up half an hour early to look around if a venue is new to him. Venues he has worked at include Adams Peak Country Estate, Bimbadgen Palmers Lane, Peterson House, Tocal Homestead, Krinklewood and The Woodhouse at Wollombi. His ceremonies are about the couple rather than a lecture on marriage. Monty writes each one from how you met, where you are now and what comes next, aiming for a mix of genuine emotion and real laughs. Lead-up contact is unlimited, the legal paperwork is taken care of, and a professional PA system means guests at the back hear every word. Love is love, and every couple able to marry is welcome. Monty also works as an MC, so the same person can carry the day from the ceremony through to the dance floor. That means one less supplier to brief and a smoother handover between the ceremony and the reception. The MC role is optional and can be added further down the track, and he also MCs weddings where another celebrant runs the ceremony. Every quoted price includes travel within the Hunter Valley. For couples marrying further afield, Monty is happy to talk about road trips and flights.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Monty King charge?
A full ceremony starts at $2,200 and a ceremony plus reception MC bundle at $3,300. MC only is from $1,100, and a registry-style legal-only ceremony starts at $660. Hunter Valley travel is included in all of them.
Does Monty King travel to Broke and Wollombi?
Yes. Pokolbin, Cessnock, Broke, Wollombi, Lovedale, Wallalong and Paterson are all covered within the standard fee. Weddings outside the Hunter are quoted separately.
Can Monty MC our reception as well as the ceremony?
Yes. Adding the MC role is your choice, and it can be booked with the ceremony or tacked on later. He also MCs receptions for couples who have booked a different celebrant.
How far ahead should we book Monty?
For dates from September to May, he suggests getting in touch 12 to 18 months ahead. Winter and weekday dates often need less notice.
What happens if Monty cannot make it on the day?
He has missed only one wedding, during Covid, and has a network of local celebrants he can call on to step in if it ever happens.
