About Heaps Married Ceremonies
Heaps Married Ceremonies is the celebrant business of Al, an authorised marriage celebrant who works with couples in the Hunter Valley. Her style is warm and playful: ceremonies are written around how the two of you actually are, with plenty of laughter alongside the emotional moments. Old traditions are optional. Couples keep the ones that ring true, such as the white dress, and drop the ones that do not. Al comes to celebrancy with an editorial background and some acting training, and it shows in how the ceremonies are written and delivered. After an initial phone or video chat, you meet in person to start the legal paperwork, then complete a questionnaire that gives her the stories and details to work with. Couples also receive the Heaps Married Handbook, which includes tips on writing personal vows. About a week before the wedding you meet again to settle the final details and sign more paperwork. On the day, Al arrives early with her PA system, gets the guests in the right mood and delivers a ceremony of around 20 to 30 minutes. Afterwards she lodges the documents and explains the name change process if you are changing your surname. There are three ways to book: the full package for a complete personalised wedding, an elopement for a smaller gathering, or a legal-only ceremony for couples who simply need the formalities done.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in the Heaps Married Whole Shebang?
An initial meeting for paperwork and ideas, unlimited calls and emails, completion and lodgement of the legal documents, a personalised ceremony, vow-writing help, an optional rehearsal, delivery on the day, a commemorative certificate, keepsake vow cards and script, and use of a wireless PA.
How much does Heaps Married Ceremonies cost?
Elopements run from $700 to $1400, and the full package is from $1700 on weekdays and $2000 on weekends. A legal-only ceremony starts at $550 on weekdays and $650 on weekends.
Can a friend run our ceremony with Al doing the legal part?
Yes. The legals-only option suits couples who want a friend to lead the ceremony and only need an authorised celebrant to complete and lodge the legal side.
How long is the ceremony?
A full ceremony usually runs for about 20 to 30 minutes. A legal-only ceremony is much shorter, at around two minutes of legal wording.
Can we play our own music through the PA?
Yes. Al brings a wireless, battery-operated PA to full ceremonies, and it can play your chosen songs as well as carry the ceremony audio.
