About Bóveda

Bóveda is a Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar at 258 Lawrence Hargrave Drive in Thirroul, set inside what was once a bank vault. The fit-out mixes rustic finishes with candlelight, deep tones and a well-stocked back bar, and the kitchen works in bold, modern Mexican flavours built around small plates and sharing dishes. It trades as a restaurant from Tuesday to Saturday evenings and runs a dedicated events offer alongside, including wedding receptions. For a stand-up party the venue takes up to 100 guests, with canapés circulating through the room: tostadas, sliders, croquettes, skewers, corn ribs and a range of tacos. Seated events take up to 75 at long sharing tables. The room suits an evening celebration with music and cocktails more than a formal ballroom-style night, and the team designs each event around the host, from welcome drinks through to the last toast. Canapé packages are priced by the number of pieces: five for $49, seven for $69 or nine for $89 per person. Seated sharing menus run to three courses at $69 or $89 per person, the latter adding scallops, a choice of tacos and mains such as braised lamb shoulder or picanha. Drinks packages of beer and wine cost $89, $94 or $99 per person depending on the range, and cocktails can be pre-ordered in batches of at least 50. A minimum spend applies to every event, from $8,000 on Tuesday to Thursday up to $22,000 on a Saturday.

Boveda in Thirroul is outstanding on everyway. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, but it’s the food, drinks, and service that truly shine. I tried the rib eye, and it was amazing — perfectly cooked, incredibly flavourfu…
