About The Riverview Hotel
The Riverview Hotel is a heritage-listed pub at 29 Birchgrove Road, Balmain, on a quiet street lined with trees. Downstairs is the Main Bar, a casual public bar with high seating around the windows, and upstairs is the Birchgrove Restaurant. The hotel runs live music on weekends, trivia and seasonal events, and it specialises in private functions and group bookings. There are several function spaces. The Lounge sits beside the Main Bar with direct access to it and works as a private area for cocktail-style receptions such as birthdays and work drinks. Upstairs, the Birchgrove Restaurant looks out over the street through heritage windows, with a contemporary fit-out, a leafy rooftop courtyard and an intimate private dining room. Each space can be styled to suit the event, and the hotel can host anything from a private table of 10 up to groups of about 110, depending on how the room is set. The function menus sit between contemporary pub bistro food and fine dining, overseen by Chef Wade. Guests can order off the menu or choose a seated set menu of two or three courses, and there are also canapés, pizza boards for sharing, a high tea, or a whole Macleay Valley suckling pig as the centrepiece.
