About Pappy's Bar
Pappy's Bar is a small bar at 48 Erskine Street, on the western side of the Sydney CBD. It takes its name and its 1920s mood from a Mississippi man who lived through that state's long prohibition, and the inside runs to dark timber, candlelit tables and framed photographs. The bar is spread over three levels of a terrace building with seating out on the laneway, and it trades from Tuesday to Saturday. For functions there are three separate spaces across the building, used for private or semi-private events from 15 guests up to 105. Once numbers pass 60, the whole bar can be booked exclusively. The team handles enquiries by email or through the form on the website, and packages are put together on request. Function food comes from a canapé list priced by the tray of 20 pieces. Cold options include bocconcini skewers, tomato and feta crostini, smoked salmon blinis and a charcuterie board, and warm ones cover arancini, satay chicken skewers, calamari and meatballs. For something more filling there are fried chicken, black bean or barramundi tacos and cheeseburger, BLT chicken or veggie sliders. Many dishes are marked gluten-free or vegetarian. Behind the bar the focus is Australian craft beer, a short wine list, a wide spirit range and the house cocktails, each named after a Southern city.
