Norths is the club at 12 Abbott Street, Cammeray, that grew out of the North Sydney Bears rugby league side in the 1950s. Alongside its dining, live shows and fitness centre, it runs a dedicated events team and a set of function rooms that cover everything from a private dinner to a gala for several hundred. The Lounge is the main party room for social events, holding 100 guests cocktail style or 80 seated café style, with booths, direct bar access, a large TV, a handheld microphone and music connectivity. The Conservatory is a bright space ringed with greenery for 60 standing or 30 seated, and the Upper Terrace is a semi-private outdoor dining area seating 40. The Ken Irvine Room holds 50 for cocktails or theatre seating, with a projector screen, private bar and break-out room, and the Boardroom seats 12. Upstairs, the Auditorium takes up to 500 for cocktails or theatre seating, 430 for show dining or 420 at banquet tables, with a professional stage, dance floor, dual projector screens, two private bars and artist rooms; sound and lighting are charged by the hour. Room hire fees apply to all spaces. Social packages start with canapés at $42 a head for four bites and two substantial items, or $50 with a third substantial item, for a minimum of 30 guests. There is also Mediterranean grazing with pizza platters at $45 a head, themed Chinese, Mexican or Indian buffets at $77 a head for 50 or more, and plated menus from $65 a head. Drinks packages run for two or three hours, starting at $50 a head for house beer, wine and soft drinks, and bar tabs can be prepaid or opened on the day. Disabled access and wi-fi are available across the rooms.
