About Hazel Kitchen and Bar
Hazel Kitchen and Bar sits inside the grounds of the Hazelhurst Arts Centre on the Kingsway in Gymea, the former home of Ben and Hazel Broadhurst. The restaurant takes its cues from the site's Art Deco history, and trades as a breakfast and lunch spot seven days a week while also running birthdays, christenings, engagement parties, corporate meetings, product launches and weddings. The centre can be reached by bus, train or car, and its car park gives wheelchair access to the gardens and restaurant. The main room is an architect-designed space full of daylight and warm walnut tones, with a marble bar that looks over the dance floor and a large deck facing the gardens. For events it seats up to 120 guests, or takes around 200 for a cocktail party. For something smaller, the private dining area sits behind a glass screen, apart from the main room, with a door outside; it seats 48 or holds 80 standing. The FAQ also describes a Garden Room, a semi-private dining room for about 50. The gardens themselves, with magnolias, palms and the original cottage, are used for arrival drinks and photos, and dogs are welcome outdoors. Menus are built on local produce, served as shared feasting dishes at the table or as roaming canapés, alongside a curated wine list and the option of a signature cocktail designed for your event. Event and wedding packages are tailored to each booking rather than published, so pricing comes after you submit an enquiry. Kids are catered for with a children's menu and high chairs.
