About Gymea Hotel
The Gymea Hotel is the neighbourhood pub on Gymea Bay Road, sitting directly opposite Gymea Station with a large car park behind it. Alongside its bistro, main bar and sports bar, it runs a steady trade in private celebrations: birthdays, engagements, wedding receptions, christenings, work presentations and sporting club nights. The pub splits into several bookable areas. The Stone & Wood Garden Bar is the main covered outdoor space, with a vergola roof that opens or closes with the weather, two 75-inch screens and a large projector screen; it suits 40 to 70 guests, and adding the neighbouring Bay Bar alfresco takes it to about 150 with a private bar. The Stone & Wood Alfresco, a lower seated area in front of the bar with three screens, takes 20 to 40. The Sideline is the hotel's premium room, seating around 200 or holding about 400 for a cocktail party, with a seven-metre screen and a 100-inch TV and room for a stage. For smaller dinners, the Owners Table seats 12 and stretches to about 30, and the Lounge, with its own bar and bi-fold doors, seats up to 200. Catering runs from shared platters and a grazing table for about 30 guests to canapé packages at $22, $30 or $40 per guest. Drinks can go on a bar tab with a set limit, or on three-hour packages from $50 to $85 per guest. Minimum spends apply to each area, a deposit of $200 or 20 percent confirms the booking, and 21st birthdays need a security guard booked through the venue.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can the Gymea Hotel hold for a function?
It depends on the area. The Owners Table seats 12 to 30, the Stone & Wood Alfresco takes 20 to 40, the Garden Bar suits 40 to 70 (about 150 with the Bay Bar alfresco added), and the Sideline seats about 200 or holds around 400 standing.
What are the minimum spends?
The function pack lists a $1,000 minimum spend for the Stone & Wood Alfresco, $1,500 for the Stone & Wood Garden Bar and $10,000 for the Sideline. Minimums also vary with the start time and length of your event.
What food packages are available?
Canapé packages cost $22, $30 or $40 per guest depending on how many standard and premium items you choose, such as satay skewers, party pies, sliders and karaage bites. Platters, a grazing table for about 30 and a morning tea platter can also be ordered.
How do drinks work?
You can set up a bar tab with a limit and product range that can be adjusted during the night, or choose a three-hour package: Standard at $50, Deluxe at $65 or Premium at $85 per guest, with everyone on the same package.
Are there extra requirements for a 21st?
Yes. Every 21st birthday needs a security guard for the length of the function, booked through the hotel at an hourly rate, and the venue must be told the party is a 21st when you book.
