About Employees Only
Employees Only is a cocktail bar and restaurant in a heritage-listed basement at 9A Barrack Street in the Sydney CBD, around five minutes on foot from Wynyard. It is the Sydney offshoot of a New York bar, and you find it by following a red neon psychic sign down a staircase into art deco rooms with plush velvet seating and a chandelier above the stairs. Three areas take functions. The Private Dining Room is a secluded room with a dedicated bar and bartender for 20 seated or 45 standing, with seated or cocktail layouts, an AV hook-up and music chosen for your event. The Gallery is a semi-private section set up for launches and networking nights, sized to your guest list, with space for signage and screen support. For the biggest nights the whole basement can be hired exclusively for up to 180 standing or 80 seated, with every bar and the kitchen at your disposal and a late licence to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Packages are shaped to each brief, from a seated dinner to a canapé reception or full food and beverage, and no minimum spend applies from Tuesday to Thursday. The kitchen cooks in a New York steakhouse style, with grain-fed tomahawks and steak tartare made at the table, while the bar mixes with syrups, infusions and cordials made daily. Live burlesque, DJs and AV production can be added. The events team answers enquiries within one business day and can show you the space on a half-hour visit.

Is there a minimum spend?
There is no minimum spend for functions from Tuesday to Thursday. Other nights are quoted with a package built around your event. Groups of five or more pay a 10% service charge, and public holidays carry a 15% surcharge.
How late can a party go?
The venue holds a late licence and trades until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays, so a full-venue party can run well past midnight on those nights.
