About Colombo Social
Colombo Social is a Sri Lankan restaurant at 159 Enmore Road, Enmore, run by the social enterprise Plate It Forward. Founder Shaun Christie-David built it around his family's cooking, and the business provides work for people who face barriers to employment. The menu mixes home-style curries with street-food snacks, and the bar pours creative cocktails. Groups have three options. Up to ten people can book a table online. The semi-private dining area holds up to 26 and gives the group its own section while still sharing the room's atmosphere. For a bigger event, the whole restaurant can be booked exclusively for 60 seated or 80 standing, so the room is yours from arrival to the last curry. Groups of eight or more eat from a set menu. The $65 per person menu covers pappadums, beetroot bhaji, snapper ceviche, village-style chicken curry, dhal, saffron rice, sambols and chocolate biscuit pudding. The $85 menu adds san choy bao, softshell crab roti tacos, a choice of two curries and love cake. A 10 per cent surcharge applies on Sundays and 15 per cent on public holidays. The events team can also shape a canapé-style menu for standing functions, and enquiries go through the catering team by email or the online form.
