Cheers Bar is a sports bar and grill at 561 George Street, in the middle of the CBD with public transport and parking close by. It trades around the clock, has screens throughout for live sport, and spreads over three levels, each with a different feel, from casual catch-ups to loud game nights. The kitchen runs from 11am to 9.30pm every day. The mezzanine sits on the upper level with its own bar, pool tables, high tables and lounge seating. It holds 60 seated or up to 100 standing, and suits laid-back birthdays, fundraisers and even pool competitions. Harvey's Basement, under the main bar, is a private event space with its own bar, a DJ booth and AV equipment, taking 70 seated or 250 standing. For large parties the whole venue can be booked, with room for about 500 people across the levels. Functions are catered from the Cheers kitchen, with shared platters, set menus and a choice of drinks packages. Extras such as a DJ, balloon garlands or a photographer can be arranged through the team. Groups of fewer than 20 don't need a function booking and can reserve a table online instead. For anything larger, the events team handles enquiries by email or phone and can show you through the spaces before you book.
