About Centro 86
Centro 86 is a margarita and tequila bar in the basement of 86-88 Pitt Street, in the middle of the Sydney CBD. It is one of the MUCHO group's bars, and its look borrows from old Mexican cantinas and the curving, colourful work of Antoni Gaudi, with mosaic-topped tables, framed prints on dark green walls and low lamplight. The back bar holds more than 100 tequilas and other agave spirits, some of them hard to find in Australia. Groups of up to 30 can reserve part of the bar during normal trade, and the whole basement can be hired for a private event of up to 100 guests. Events can run any day between midday and 2am. The room comes with a sound system you can feed your own Spotify playlist into, a bright projector with a portable screen that takes HDMI or USB, adjustable ambient lighting and Wi-Fi. A DJ controller, wireless microphones, extra lighting or staging and an AV technician can be quoted through the group's outside suppliers, and DJs or live acts are allowed with approval. For drinks, hosts choose a beverage package or load a pre-paid bar tab, and catering is organised on request. Private events carry a minimum spend on beverages; if it isn't reached, the gap is kept as a hire fee. A 50% deposit and signed agreement secure the date, and the balance is due 14 days out. The venue has lift access on request.

How many people can Centro 86 hold for a private event?
The whole basement takes up to 100 guests on private hire. Smaller groups of up to 30 can book a reserved area while the bar trades as normal.
Is there a minimum spend?
Yes. Private events carry a beverage minimum spend that is quoted for your date, and any shortfall is kept as a venue hire fee. A 15% surcharge applies to drinks on public holidays.
